Diplom/ Final thesis Akademie der bildende kunste, studies in abstract painting. Wien 2020.

Wir Brauchen der korrekten titel sonst ist die Form ja Sinnlos / We need the correct title or else the form is meaningless.

For the diploma exhibition, I showed a selection of works from my years in Vienna, alongside a film and cassette tape made during lockdown. These were impressions from a confusing time, assembled in a hotel space that my works didn’t seem to like very much. The whole thing became part experiment, part summary, part aesthetic nightmare. Returning to painting as both a place of struggle and commitment. A collision between impulses—between aesthetics and anti-aesthetics, between joy and critique. Interested in what visual language hides, repeats, or refuses. What happens when you mix symbols or decode conventions. Figurative and abstract– how making something can also be a way of refusing something else.
